Setting Up Shop

I’ve been doing craft projects for decades- a lot of them went unfinished or were quickly replaced by something newer and shinier for me to tinker with.

After getting back into tabletop RPG gaming about 5 years ago, I ended up down the rabbit hole of the idea of making custom dice. So I did- ordered some molds, some mica powders, some resin, and tried it out!

It quickly spiralled into getting a subscription to resin craft kit boxes, a TON of silicone molds, metal bezels, a pressure pot, alcohol inks, inclusions… And, while I do still make dice from time to time, nowadays I tend to do a mixture of things. Four years of doing that allll adds up! I did a sort-out of my resin crafting stuff a month or so ago and sorted my finished pieces into three groups; ‘sale-able’, ‘b-grade’, and ‘into the trash’. Trust me, a lot more ended up in the third category than either of the other two.

But that left me with a lot of pieces (66, to be exact) that were finished and nice- and just sitting there in my apartment. Rather than just toss them out (or find out the best way to recycle resin, which isn’t easy), I figured maybe other people might want them. I never want to turn this hobby into a job- which is why I won’t charge more than the cost to make and ship them. For me, the joy is in the making of them, not getting money from it.

Any sales I do make will either go back into making more pieces, or will be used to get treats and toys (and the all-important millet treats!) for my three budgies. After all, they’ve got the REAL ‘fallen feathers’ in this house! They are my companions whether days are good or bad, and they bring an untold amount of joy to my life. I think it’s only fair that they get to share in the good feels from my hobbies.
