Who am I, and why ‘Fallen Feathers’

I’m Tegan, originally from the UK but currently residing in Stockholm, Sweden. I’ve been a creative person since I was young, writing stories and even little scripts for play scenes. And gaming, though more casually than many people expect from someone who works in game development.

I studied a Masters of Engineering in Computer Games Design, with my thesis looking into the psychology of player character creation choices in MMORPGs. Though now long outdated thanks to how games and society have progressed, the original study and paper is still available for public viewing.

From starting as a zero-hour-contract QA, I stuck with the games industry (and a short side-step into animation software) since 2011 and have been able to work on quite a range of projects, platforms, and positions. I now work as a mid-level/senior producer.

So- why ‘Fallen Feathers’.
In that terrible time that was the 2020 pandemic, I did not fare so well being isolated and alone day in, day out. The apartment complex I live in allows pets, and I love birds. So, after much research and a little planning, I adopted two budgies- Nyx and Kite. 3 years later, I adopted Ekko too. They are my companions, my confidantes, my chaos gremlins- and have helped me keep going since I brought them home.

While I know they won’t be with me forever, I wanted to acknowledge the impact they’ve had on my life. As well as the millions of tiny feathers they’ve scattered around my apartment over the years…

But to me, it makes sense. Dreams and ideas, like feathers, can be wonderfully bright and enticing- then can fall away and be replaced by new ones. Never stop trying.
